Multi-link for 8/28

Just because I’m too tired for full posts.
- Bite me.
- Electronics in the bedroom lead to less sleep. Sleep with the TV on enough, though, and Ben gets used to it. Totally unscientific observation. You’re welcome.
- Open-source software maker puts sponsored ads in software. WordPress developer Matt says something. People freak out that Matt has the audacity to say something. Chaos ensues. Links get removed. Happy Matt gives the guys $1000. Ben wonders how that could happen to him.
- Torrentspy is told by US courts that they must log IP addresses, so the MPAA can prosecute Americans. Torrentspy says “OK,” and blocks the US from searches on that site. Ben doesn’t hate the player, but he hates the game.
- For Mom: 50 tips for frugal living. Because Ben cares.
- For everyone but Mom, who ditched the home PC: The pursuit of paperless financial management. Some of these I’m a huge fan of, and have already implemented. Though Ben’s not photocopying bills and scanning receipts, we do one bank, electronic billing for everything (and automatic payments — the only time we write checks anymore is to Costco). Electronic statements. Financial software to manage the checking, savings, loans, and credit card. I refuse to use Quicken, though, their 2006 model (or was it 2005?) had some bad anti-piracy software that irked me enough to ditch them for the next few years.
- Ben doesn’t know if referring to himself in third person is a good idea for extended periods of time.

TorrentSpy’s solution is a novel one. I hate the game, too, but I can’t help but admire their response.
thank you…..ma
