But wait, there’s more multi-link for 9/21!

OK. I had a major case of boredom today. Work was not very interesting. At home, Wifey (hereafter known as La Angela as our private joke) had a girls night out, Eldest and Boy went to see the Padres play the Rockies, and I had Emma for the night — fun until she tuckered out at 8. Anyhoo, I had marked a lot of stuff while at work to mention tonight… so along with the previous post, here goes:

  • A class action lawsuit looms, hoping the courts can force cable a la carte into business. While I appreciate the sentiment, I really wish people would quit using the courts to quash capitalism. Especialy idiots that break out the “It’s for the CHILDREN” line like the lawyer spearheading this suit has done. Here’s a free hint from Uncle Ben: Television is NOT a monopoly industry. Living in Montgomery, I had my choice of two providers (out of three in the city), not to mention the satellite people. You have a choice! (Kate knows what I’m talking about.) I realize not everyone has choice, and I feel for you that don’t, but the courts are not the solution for you few.
  • More from Arstechnica: The Internet Tax moratorium is set to expire, again. Follow the “discussion” link at the bottom of the page and see if you can spot the liberals. For bonus points, find the socialist. There’s a 1-in-10 chance right now. :)
  • And more: The first lawsuit is filed against a company that used GPL (GNU Public License) software improperly. For those who don’t wanna read up on GNU, it’s a free software license. If you distribute something under it, others are able to modify your code and redistribute it, as long as they use the same license. Some guys didn’t do that here, and the company that was “stolen” from is suing.
  • A comprehensive list of blogs talking about the next version of Wordpress (version 2.3) which is scheduled for release next week.
  • On that subject, 13 lesser-known yet important Wordpress plugins.
