Continuation of the fire updates… Things are better, and things are worse.
Two new fires have sprung up further north, Rice Canyon and Horno (Camp Pendleton areas). Also the Witch Creek fire, the worst one going — the one you’ve likely seen on TV, if you’re watching on a national level — has merged with the one in Poomacha (west-northwest of the other one) to form one big ugly burn area.
The Scripps Ranch area, though, is starting to allow people back in. That area is the closest evac area to home, and thus I breathe just a little easier tonight.
Also, the weather is expected to break favorably for us, as the Santa Ana winds are expected to die off tonight and humidity creeps back in tomorrow.
This is far from over, though it’s looking better and better every day.
[edit, 9:44 PM] I KNOW things are starting to taper off, because the local network affiliates have gone to regular programming, with a crawler across the screen. Since Sunday at 6pm-ish, it had been wall-to-wall fire coverage. They’re tired of it, now.
