The Mindset List for the class of 2011

I love these lists.  I used to get them from friends who circulated the email; a couple of email address changes later, I’ve not seen this list in years.

A list of things that describe the overall mindset and worldview of the Class of 2011.  Highlights:

  • What Berlin wall?
  • Michael Moore has always been angry and funny [edited, sorry].
  • No one has ever been able to sit down comfortably to a meal of “liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.”
  • They never found a prize in a Coca-Cola “MagiCan.”  [What the hell is a MagiCan?]
  • They were introduced to Jack Nicholson as “The Joker.” [Respect my culture, punks.]
  • Tiananmen Square is a 2008 Olympics venue, not the scene of a massacre.  [...I'm out of touch... they're holding the Olympics THERE?  Who's gonna boycott?]
  • They have no idea who Rusty Jones was or why he said “goodbye to rusty cars.” [I have no idea either.]
  • The space program has never really caught their attention except in disasters.
  • Pete Rose has never played baseball.  [...and has always charged far too much for autographs.]

Some of these are “whoa” moments (like the Berlin Wall); some of these actually stumped me, and I was already a young adult by the time these whippersnappers were born.
