International Wordpress Day

Today is the unofficial official International Wordpress Day.
Allow me to say, Thanks!
I’ve been using Wordpress for 4 years and 3 months, and can’t imagine switching to another platform, like, ever.  But what’s so great about it?

It’s got a great community of support.  Whenever I have a problem with my blog, I know I can go [...]

The state of Free Expression

Via GamePolitics.com, a disturbing story in two parts.
Brazil has banned the game Bully from its shelves. At first glance, it would seem semi-logical, as Bully comes from the makers of the Grand Theft Auto series. It’s a nasty little piece of reactionary pie, though, because the slightest bit of research into what the [...]

Updated Wordpress Theme: K2 for Sandbox

The long story is available here, but basically the theme I was using for this site was no longer being updated; it was a situation I wasn’t happy with.  So I updated it.

If that ever happens, please let me know.

Upgrading…

Wordpress 2.3 has been released… it breaks my regular theme, so I’m installing a theme update and a wordpress upgrade all at once. Pardon the dust. Will edit once complete.
[edit] Well, that was hair-raising.  It’s all done now, though.  As always, write me with problems.  Or comment here.

I Do Follow

Some long time ago, Wordpress automatically gave links in the comments here a “rel=nofollow” tag. This meant that search engines would not “follow” the links in comments, meaning a site’s page ranking in said engines would not benefit from the comment. This was put in Wordpress at a time when comment spam was [...]

Multi-link for 8/28

Just because I’m too tired for full posts.

Bite me.
Electronics in the bedroom lead to less sleep. Sleep with the TV on enough, though, and Ben gets used to it. Totally unscientific observation. You’re welcome.
Open-source software maker puts sponsored ads in software. Wordpress developer Matt says something. People freak out that [...]
